State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGSU) officers found a hang glider, 8 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of the "Plane" and "Quadcopter" types, as well as more than 2,000 packs of counterfeit tobacco products and draft records with evidence of illegal activity in the residences and outbuildings of the defendants.

Technological breakthrough: Ukrainian smugglers "work" with drones

The Volyn smugglers used UAVs not only to smuggle cigarettes across the border, but also to monitor the actions of border patrols.

This was reported by the State Border Guard Service on Facebook.

The interagency group, consisting of servicemen of the Volyn and Lviv border guard detachments, with the force support of the border guards of the DOZOR special unit, found a hang glider, 8 unmanned aerial vehicles of the "Aircraft" and "Quadcopter" types, as well as more than 2,000 packs of counterfeit tobacco products and draft records with evidence of illegal activity in the residences and outbuildings of the persons involved in the case.

In addition, a whole workshop for the production of unmanned aerial vehicles was found, including a line of 3D printers that printed parts for drones.

The seized UAVs are to be transferred to the units of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine that perform tasks as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The possibility of using the skills of persons involved in illegal activities in countering enemy forces is being studied.

Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups are attacking the borders of Ukraine

Russia has begun to use sabotage and reconnaissance groups (SRG) more actively near the border with the Kharkiv region. At the same time, the number of hostile attacks in the region has increased.

Andriy Demchenko, a spokesman for the SBGSU, said this during the telethon.

He said that the activity of the Russian occupiers has been recorded over the past few weeks.

Previously, we recorded most of them in the Sumy region. Over the past few weeks, we have seen a change in direction, namely in the Kharkiv region. According to Demchenko, the enemy has been using the SRGs more actively in the Kharkiv region over the past few weeks.

He suggests that the Russian occupiers changed the direction of the SRGs' use because they realised that "they could do nothing in the Sumy direction".

The spokesman added that the number of hostile attacks in the border areas of the Kharkiv region has significantly increased. At the same time, attacks continue in the border areas of the Chernihiv and Sumy regions.
