The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) exposed the FSB agent network that operated in three regions. Among those detained are an engineer of a defence plant and an official of the city council in the Donetsk region.

What is known about the FSB agent network

The SSU counter-intelligence neutralised the extensive agent network of the FSB. As a result of the special operation, five Russian agents who were operating in Odesa, Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions were simultaneously detained.

The detainees scouted the places of the greatest concentration of AFU personnel and military equipment in the front-line territories.

The FSB network participants tried to find AFU ammunition and fuel depots. Also, they were interested in geolocations and features of industrial facilities where heavy weapons of Ukrainian troops are repaired.

In addition, henchmen of the occupiers gathered information about the consequences of enemy airstrikes and helped to correct new missile attacks by the Russians.

For the conspiracy, the network agents acted separately from each other but were "accountable" to a single curator — an FSB staff member. The SSU emphasises that its establishment data is already known to the security forces, the SSU reported.

Among the detainees is a department official of one of the city councils of the Donetsk region, an ex-head of a local utility company, a resident of Kramatorsk, a technological engineer of one of Zaporizhzhia's defence enterprises, and an official of a transport company from Odesa region.

According to the investigation, before being recruited by the Russian special services, each of the persons involved was an active member of pro-Kremlin groups in popular messengers.

To communicate with the agents, the Russian curator created an anonymous chat for each of them, from which all read correspondence was deleted.

What are the charges against the detainees?

During the searches, mobile phones were seized from the detainees, which they used to correspond with the FSB.

The extras were charged with suspicion under Chapter 2 of Article 111 (treason committed under martial law) of the Criminal Code.

The detainees are in custody. They face life imprisonment, the SSU concluded.
