Sweden announced the allocation of €120 million to Ukraine to support the civilian population during the winter. Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and Aid Minister Johan Forssell presented the package.

Winter aid to Ukraine from Sweden

Kristersson noted that Ukraine is fighting for its survival and theirs, so it is worrying that long-term support for Ukraine will be blocked in the US and the EU.

Most of the money will go to the World Bank fund to reconstruct Ukraine. The fund supports Ukraine's central infrastructure in energy, housing, health care and transport.

The funds will also be used to purchase heating and transmission equipment in the Ukrainian power grid. It is also about creating shelters.

Russia is deliberately attacking civilian infrastructure to make an already severe test for the civilian population even tougher. With this package, we want to help Ukraine both to build new ones and to repair the destroyed ones, Johan Forssell said.

This is the largest support to date within the framework of Sweden's bilateral assistance to Ukraine, Ulf Kristersson said at the press conference.

Negotiations on the transfer of Gripen aircraft

On December 9, during a meeting between Ukrainian MOD chief Rustem Umierov and the Supreme Commander of the Swedish Armed Forces, General Mikael Büden, the potential supply of Gripen aircraft to the Armed Forces was discussed.

Buden noted that the issue of the transfer of Gripen fighter aircraft to Ukraine is being discussed at the political and military operational levels.

I know that the dialogue between our countries continues. So we are waiting for political decisions, said General Büden.
