Sweden is going to allocate financial aid to Ukraine. The money will go to the Grain From Ukraine initiative.

A new package of financial assistance from Sweden

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson announced a new financial aid package for Ukraine for 100 million kroner (8.7 million euros).

Kristersson noted that the funds will go to the Grain From Ukraine initiative, implemented by the World Food Program, within the framework of which Ukrainian grain is exported to the poorest countries.

Ukraine continues to contribute to global food security, despite Russia’s continuing war of aggression, the Prime Minister emphasized.

What is known about the Grain From Ukraine initiative

Ukraine launched the humanitarian food program in November 2022. As part of the program, funds are collected for grain export from Ukraine to the poorest countries in the world.

More than 30 countries and international organizations joined the program.

On November 25, the international Grain from Ukraine summit was held in Kyiv and attended by the presidents of Ukraine, Switzerland, and Latvia, as well as the prime minister of Lithuania.

Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that during the first year of the Grain from Ukraine initiative, it was possible to accumulate 180 million dollars.
