According to the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs of Switzerland, it has already started an investigation after a report by journalists about the alleged supply of Swiss-made cartridges to Ukraine.

An investigation was launched in Switzerland after a media report about the supply of its cartridges to Ukraine

On November 16, the Swiss newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung published an article in which it was said that the Polish company UMO SP re-exported ammunition produced by the SwissP Defense company to Ukraine.

Journalists also draw attention to the data of the DefenseOne publication, which a few weeks ago announced two cases of importing 145,000 sniper rounds and 500,000 cartridges for assault rifles into Ukraine.

As the editorial staff of the NZZ newspaper points out, if such an export took place, it violated Switzerland's policy, which prohibits re-exporting military equipment and goods to countries where wars or local conflicts are ongoing.

It is also essential to understand that private companies such as UMO SP are not required to sign a re-export permit.

How do the Swiss authorities comment on these data

Switzerland's State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, which deals with re-export permits, has already officially confirmed to reporters that it has opened an investigation into the matter but has yet to reveal any details.

Representatives of the Polish company UMO SP continue to state that all their international contracts are "executed with care, by certification procedures and compliance rules."

We did not find any disturbing information or violations of procedures in the case described in the media. All agreements are subject to careful control by the government of the exporting country and supervisory institutions under the Polish government, they say.

It is essential to understand that, as of today, Switzerland's neutrality prohibits delivering weapons directly into combat zones.
