The Ukrainian Armed Forces Air Force explained the situation with the timing of Ukraine's receipt of American F-16 fighter jets from Western partners.

What is known about the terms of obtaining F-16 by Ukraine

According to the Air Force Command spokesman, Colonel Yuriy Ignat, Ukraine's acquisition of American F-16 fighter jets remains challenging, as it involves a whole set of measures.

Ignat noted that Ukraine would not be unlikely to receive F-16 before the end of this year.

Statements regarding the appearance of F-16 fighters in Ukraine are somewhat different. But it won't happen soon, they are unlikely to appear by the end of the year. There were statements by our diplomats that by the end of winter it would be spring. Let me remind you that the process of transferring aircraft is a very complex process that includes a complex of measures. This is the training of infrastructure, pilots, aviation engineers, who need to be taught how to use and program bombs and missiles that will attach to aircraft. No country in the world had such experience to relearn from a Soviet aircraft to a Western one in such a short time, we are the first. That is why such different terms are heard in the statements of politicians regarding the acquisition of the F-16, the AFU Air Force spokesman emphasized.

What is known about the training of Ukrainian pilots on the F-16 in Romania

Ignat added that Ukrainian pilots have not yet started training on the Romanian territory, as the construction of the training centre is underway.

The media was somewhat mistaken, perceiving the information about the F-16 flight from the Netherlands to the Romanian center. The training center in Romania is still under construction. Now its training and material base is being filled so that as many pilots, instructors and aviation technicians as possible can be trained there. This center is located close to Ukraine, and it is very convenient. The planes, which have already been handed over by the Netherlands, will serve as training aircraft. There are one- and two-seater training and combat aircraft, the pilot takes off with the instructor and perform flight tasks, the AFU Air Force spokesman emphasized.
