What is happening in different parts of the front
The General Staff of the Armed Forces provided operational information regarding the Russian invasion as of 18.00 on 01/28/2024.
The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains difficult.
During the day, 61 combat clashes took place.
Also, the enemy launched six missiles and two air strikes and fired 51 rockets by MLRS at the positions of our troops and populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, there are dead and wounded among the civilian population. An educational institution, residential private and multi-apartment buildings, and other civil infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.
On Volyn and Polisia's directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly.
The enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas on the Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi directions. He carried out an airstrike in the area of the Krasny Khutir settlement of the Chernihiv region. About 30 settlements were hit by enemy artillery and mortar attacks.
In the Kupiansk direction, our defenders repulsed an attack east of Pischany, Kharkiv region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to break through the defences of our troops. More than ten settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Dvorichna, Petropavlivka, and Ivanivka of the Kharkiv region.
In the Lyman direction, our defenders repelled six attacks near Terny and Yampolivka of the Donetsk region, where the enemy tried to break through the defence of our troops. More than ten settlements were damaged by enemy artillery and mortar shelling.
In the direction of Bakhmut, the Defense Forces repulsed two attacks in the Ivanove district of the Donetsk region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to improve the tactical position. More than ten settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled 16 enemy attacks in the vicinity of Ocheretyne, Novobakhmutivka, Stepove and Avdiivka and another five attacks near Pervomaiskyi and Nevelske of the Donetsk region. More than 15 settlements, including Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka, Sieverne, and Pervomaiske of the Donetsk region, were hit by enemy artillery and mortar attacks.
In the Mariinka direction, the Defense Forces continue to hold back the occupiers in the districts of Georgiivka, Pobieda and Novomykhailivka of the Donetsk region. Here, the enemy unsuccessfully tried to improve the tactical position 18 times. The settlements of Krasnohorivka, Georgiivka, Pobieda, Novomykhailivka, and Paraskoviivka were shelled with artillery and mortars.
The enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) actions in Shakhtarsk's direction. More than ten settlements were hit by artillery and mortar attacks.
In the direction of Zaporizhzhia, Ukrainian soldiers repelled the attack of the invaders north of Priyutne of the Zaporizhzhia region. More than 15 settlements were hit by artillery and mortar attacks.
In the Kherson direction, the regional centre of the Kherson region was hit by artillery fire from the enemy. The enemy also shelled the areas of settlements of Novotyagynka, Ivanivka, and Ponyativka of the Kherson region with rocket launchers.
New successes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the war against the Russian army

During the day, the aviation of the Defense Forces struck six areas where enemy personnel were concentrated. Also, Ukraine's air defence destroyed one Kh-59 guided air missile.
Units of the missile forces struck one artillery gun and one enemy EW station.
