The President of Argentina is on Ukraine's side in confronting Russian aggression. Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine is currently working to build close relations with these countries.

Zelenskyy stressed that there are very few pages in Ukraine's modern history related to Latin America. That is why his recent visit to Argentina was aimed at building a new milestone in relations between the two countries.

The President of Ukraine added that Latin America, including Argentina, was closer to the legacy of the Soviet Union, and therefore to Russia. Therefore, this influenced the Peace Formula, economic relations, and the lack of support for various financial and military aid packages.

The rise to power in Argentina of such an extraordinary personality as Milei turns the political course of Latin America upside down. He is on our side, he officially supports Ukraine. As I know, in the parliament, he declared his full support for Ukraine and spoke out against Putin's policy, Zelenskyy said.

The President also added that his meeting with Milei in Argentina was very powerful, as it will be of interest to Ukraine from an economic point of view.

Zelenskyy explained that our country has received support not only from Argentina, but also from Ecuador, Uruguay, and Paraguay. Zelenskyy added that the teams of Ukraine and Argentina will work together and hold a meeting in the future to improve political relations.

What is known about the new president of Argentina

In Argentina, libertarian Javier Milei won the second round of the presidential election held on 19 November. He received 56% of the vote against 44% for Economy Minister Sergio Massa.

Milei promised Argentina an economic "shock therapy" aimed at correcting decades of ineffective policies. In particular, he proposed dollarisation of the economy, privatization, and abandoning cooperation with China, Brazil, and Russia in favour of the United States.

He also opposes Argentina's accession to the BRICS. In addition, Milei called Russian President Vladimir Putin an "autocrat".
