In March 2022, the Kastus Kalinovsky Regiment was formed for the first time from members of the "Belarus" tactical group, members of the "White Legion", "Young Front" and other volunteers. In an interview with online.ua, Regiment Commander Denys Prokhorov with the call sign "Whale" told that its number reaches almost 5 thousand soldiers.
What is important to know about the Kastus Kalinovsky Regiment
They decided to name the regiment led by "Kit" in honor of Kastus Kalinovsky, one of the leaders of the January Uprising of Belarusians, Poles, Lithuanians and Ukrainians against the Russian Empire in 1863, a national hero of Belarus.
During two years of full-scale war, the soldiers of the battalion managed to gain combat experience.
As Denys Prokhorov notes, as of today, these are professional military personnel who know how to perform their work as efficiently as possible.
They were able to turn from ordinary civilians into real warriors.
Kalinovsky's regiment consists mainly of Belarusians and has a little less than 5,000 soldiers. In addition, the Kosciuszko unit, which is part of the Regiment, has volunteers from all over the world - Poles, Canadians and French.

Why thousands of Belarusians decided to fight for Ukraine
According to Denys Prokhorov, he and his fighters decided to defend Ukraine after the Russian attack, because they know that we have a common enemy.
Moreover, they realize that the Russian Empire will not go anywhere by itself and the Russian Federation will never stop halfway.
How quickly Belarusians will be able to return to their homeland depends on how quickly we deal with the enemy. We have a slogan: "We are liberating Belarus through the liberation of Ukraine," emphasizes the Commander of the Kalinovsky Regiment.
