The High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine chose detention as a preventive measure for the ex-head of the SSSCIP, Yuriy Shchygol.

The court also allowed Shchygol to post bail for 50 million hryvnias.

During the hearing, the prosecutor said 1.2 million dollars and another 6.9 bitcoins ($270 thousand) were found in the suspect's cryptowallet. They also found $72 thousand and €82 thousand in cash.

The Shchygol case

A few days ago, it became known that the Ukrainian law enforcement officers exposed a criminal scheme in which the board of the State Special Communications Service of Ukraine (SSSCIP) was involved.

The ex-chief of the SSSCIP, Yuriy Shchygol, and his deputy, Viktor Zhora, are suspected of illegally seizing state funds worth more than 62 million hryvnias.

According to law enforcement officers, Shchygol and Zhora worked out a scheme to seize state funds together with the owner of a group of companies.

For this, they involved two controlled companies, and the purchase was kept secret to ensure their victory.
