The EU has finally announced its conclusions about the fighting corruption in Ukraine

According to official Brussels, as of December 2023, Ukraine could complete only a quarter of the marathon of fighting corruption.

The EU still has many questions regarding the problem of corruption in Ukraine

Representatives of the European Commission and the foreign policy service of the European Union voiced their assessment of the efforts of official Kyiv during the Kyiv-Brussels TV bridge "Fighting Corruption: Ukraine's Path to the EU".

They drew attention to the fact that they are doing everything possible every day so that our country finally builds an anti-corruption structure "at the request of Ukrainian society".

However, it is essential to understand that the maintenance of these requirements by official Brussels once again confirms that the process is far from over.

The process of joining the EU is like a marathon. Sometimes it may seem that the track is shorter, that it is a 10-kilometer race and the finish line is close. But no — it's 42 kilometers, and you have to think about the future, Asier Santillan Luzuriaga made a statement in this regard, who is a head of the department Governance and Rule of Law at the EU representation in Ukraine.

According to him, as of today, Kyiv has managed to overcome only a quarter of the way.

The European Union does not deny Ukraine's successes in the fight against corruption

Official Brussels concluded that the preparatory work carried out by the Ukrainian authorities was of high quality, which means that it will continue.

If we continue the sports analogy, training is also necessary to start a marathon. So, in recent years, a lot of your efforts have been spent on "training", that is, preparation, you have created institutions, Asier Santillan Luzuriaga noted.

According to one of the EC representatives, Wolfgang Nozar (DG NEAR), the success of the further fight against corruption depends exclusively on the Ukrainian authorities.

We can help with advice, but the real work is up to Ukraine, the politician concluded.
