Representatives of the Party of European Socialists warn of the threat posed by the growing popularity of far-right radical political forces.

How far-right politicians can pose a threat to key EU values

It is noted that the Party of Socialists has already started a campaign to participate in the elections to the European Parliament.

The key tasks of European socialists are the protection of workers' rights, the provision of salaries and the fight against climate change.

The far right is poison for democracy. They have no other project than to destroy democracy and our common social Europe, - says the EU Commissioner from Luxembourg, Nicholas Schmidt.

Schmidt is expected to challenge European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

What is known about the threat of the victory of the far-right in the elections to the European Parliament

Journalists of the publication, referring to poll data, note that the far-right and nationalist right have every chance of winning the elections to the European Parliament in June.

At the same time, the center-left and the democrats should retain the same number of seats in the European legislature, even if the gap between them and the stronger center-right force grows.

To make matters worse for the center-left, the far-right is doing well in some of its last real bastions of power in the EU, namely Germany, Portugal and Romania, the report notes.

The leader of Italy's Democratic Party, Elli Schlein, has sent a warning shot to the conservatives who rule the other two right-wing parties in her country.

Where is the limit for the European People's Party? - she asks.

At the same time, the Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, warned that "the very soul of Europe is under threat."

German Social Democrats co-leader Lars Klingbeil said the campaign's priorities should be people's earnings, affordable housing and pensions.

If we do this, I am convinced that we will return people who at this moment would say that I will vote for right-wing populists, - emphasized the politician.
