Europe must assume a more significant role when other allies have neither the political will nor the ability to provide the necessary military equipment. And in Europe, very significant military changes are taking place, which are primarily related to the strengthening of its defense industry.

Nauseda called on the EU to help Ukraine more

With Ukraine still not receiving the promised military aid, the European Union must play a more active role in helping Kyiv, while foreign allies lack the will.

This was stated by the President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda, reports Etaplius.

According to him, it is necessary to urgently increase the military potential of Lithuania and the EU, both in terms of procurement and other forms of cooperation.

Europe must assume a more significant role when other allies have neither the political will nor the ability to provide the necessary military equipment. And in Europe, very significant military changes are taking place, which are primarily related to the strengthening of its defense industry, Nauseda said.

He also added that Europe should not waste time on strengthening capabilities both in Lithuania and throughout the EU.

I have no doubt that joint procurement and multilateral military cooperation is something we can do even more, he said.

Nauseda also noted that although aid to Ukraine is being provided faster than before, it takes months to reach agreements.

Aid to Ukraine from Lithuania

Recently it became known that the damaged Leopard tanks, which were damaged during the hostilities in Ukraine, will be repaired in Lithuania.

Also, Lithuania will allocate about 340 million euros to help Ukraine next year. Part of the money will be spent on education.

A month ago, Lithuania handed over sets of radar equipment for the needs of the Ukrainian Navy.
