The General Staff has denied the alleged deaths of 108 Ukrainian soldiers in the Avdiivka sector. The false information was previously spread on social media.

General Staff denied the information about the death of the soldiers

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that the information about the alleged deaths of 108 soldiers of one of the brigades near Avdiivka on Christmas Eve is fake.

The information on social media about 108 dead in one of the brigades in the Avdiivka sector on Christmas Eve is fake, the General Staff said.

What preceded it

The day before, political strategist Vitaliy Bala wrote a post on Facebook saying that soldiers of a brigade serving near Avdiivka had been sent home for a week after allegedly drawning lots.

All those lucky got on the buses and left, but they didn't reach their homes, and their families will be sad. We are talking about 108 defenders, Vitaliy Bala wrote.

According to the General Staff, as of the morning of 26 December, defence forces continue to hold back Russian troops in the Avdiivka sector, and the occupiers continue to try to surround the city.
