DIU to disclose the details of the investigation into the poisoning of Budanov's wife

Representatives of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine are investigating the poisoning of Marianna Budanova, the wife of DIU chief Lt Gen Kyrylo Budanov.

What is known about the investigation into the poisoning of Budanov's wife

According to DIU representative Andrii Yusov, an internal investigation is currently underway into the case of the poisoning of Budanov's wife, Marianna.

An internal investigation has been launched and continues into the poisoning of military intelligence officers and Marianna, the wife of the DIU chief Kyrylo Budanov. In accordance with Article 47, Chapters 3 and 4 of Article 24 of the Law of Ukraine "On Intelligence", Chapters 5 of the Law of Ukraine "On Counter-Intelligence Activities", Chapters 5 and 6 of the Law of Ukraine "On Operational-Investigation Activities", the specified incidents are investigated by the DIU internal security unit, Yusov noted.

The DIU representative added that since we are talking about an alleged hostile special operation directed against intelligence representatives and their relatives, the investigation is being conducted by representatives of the security unit.

According to him, after studying the event's circumstances, a decision will be made on the involvement of other law enforcement agencies and the transfer of materials to the relevant bodies of pre-trial or judicial investigation.

What is known about the poisoning of Budanov's wife

According to the information of an anonymous DIU representative in the comment of "RBK-Ukraine", the wife of DIU chief Kyryll Budanov could have been poisoned with heavy metals, namely arsenic and mercury.

DIU confirmed that Marianna Budanova was poisoned with heavy metals. But they were not named.

According to sources, Budanov could have been poisoned with arsenic and mercury. Most likely, Budanov's wife was "poisoned through food."
