The IDF confirmed that Air Defence Forces shot down one rocket fired by Palestinian militants at Israeli communities near Gaza on the night of December 1. At 7 am, the Israeli army announced the continuation of the war in Gaza.

Hamas violated the truce

The Israeli army announced the resumption of hostilities in Gaza against Hamas militants on December 1.

The IDF press service reports this information on Telegram.

Hamas violated the operational pause and, in addition, shelled Israeli territory, the IDF press service said.

On the night of December 1, missile alarm sirens sounded in the Israeli city of Sderot and nearby areas. Soon, there were explosions accompanied by flashes.

The IDF confirmed that Air Defense forces shot down one rocket fired by militants at Israeli communities near Gaza. They noted no reports of injuries or damage due to the explosions.

The attack was the first in a week of relative peace and happened an hour before the end of the seven-day truce.

In this regard, the Israeli forces decided to resume hostilities on the territory of Gaza and against the terrorist organization Hamas.

At the same time, the media previously stated that Israel and Hamas agreed to extend the truce a few hours before its end.

A ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, which Qatar brokered, was said to have been repeatedly extended, but the deal also faced possible disruptions.

Release of Hamas hostages

Last week, Israel signed an agreement with Hamas on a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages.

So, the militants released the first group of hostages already on November 24. They were taken to hospitals in Israel.

The next day, Hamas released the group of 17 and handed it over to the Red Cross.

The Red Cross received the third group of 17 released from Hamas captivity on November 26.

In addition, Hamas released three minor French hostages.
