The Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin was hospitalised again: details

US Department of Defense
Austin

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was hospitalised at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center due to bladder problems.

What is known about the re-hospitalisation of Lloyd Austin

It happened on February 11. At first, Austin kept his duties and responsibilities to himself, arriving at the hospital with unclassified and classified communications systems.

However, in a few hours, Lloyd Austin transferred the functions and duties of the Secretary of Defence to Deputy Kathleen Hicks. She started work. The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the White House and Congress were informed about this.

After the examination and tests, the minister was taken to the intensive care unit in the evening. It is not known how long Lloyd Austin will be in the hospital, but the Pentagon says that "the current problem with the bladder will not affect his expected full recovery" and the prognosis for the cancer "remains very good."

What preceded it

Austin has been in the hospital since January 1 due to complications after surgery. Walter Reed National Military Medical Center announced that Austin had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

After that, there was considerable publicity in the USA surrounding the hospitalisation of the head of the Pentagon because Biden and senior officials of the White House administration did not even know that Austin was in the hospital at first.

The Pentagon said that Austin's illness was not reported because it was a "deeply personal" matter.

On January 15, Lloyd Austin was discharged from the hospital, and on January 29, he returned to the Pentagon.
