The leadership of the US Defense Department calls on Congress to approve the request of American leader Joe Biden for additional funding for Ukraine and Israel as quickly as possible.
The Pentagon is pushing Congress to make an important decision
Deputy Speaker of the US Department of Defense, Sabrina Singh, made the corresponding statement.
We urge Congress to pass our request for additional funding that will allow us to continue supporting Ukraine and Israel, provide life-saving humanitarian aid around the world, and make important investments in the Indo-Pacific region, she emphasized.
According to Sabrina Singh, the additional funding will also be an investment in the US military industry.
Moreover, it will provide an opportunity to replenish the stockpiles of weapons of the American defence department, which were allocated earlier as foreign aid.
The request for an additional budget will ensure the needs of America's national security, the representative of the Pentagon emphasized.
She also drew attention to the fact that, as of today, the American Ministry of Defense has only 4.9 billion dollars, which it can use as PDA packages (allocations based on presidential authority - ed.).
Moreover, it is specified that about 1.1 million dollars remain to replenish the department's reserves.
Why is helping Ukraine so important right now?
As Sabrina Singh explains, it takes a lot of resources to support Ukraine, which is trying to expel the Russian invaders from its territories. So, Joe Biden's team decided to submit a request to Congress.
We know that Ukraine continues to make efforts, is leading a counteroffensive, and needs constant support on a regular basis. So we know that we need to continue meeting their needs, said the representative of the US Defense Department.
She also drew attention to the fact that they intend to discuss this issue in detail during the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine meeting.
According to her, the date and plans of the meeting in the Rammstein format will be known later.
