The incumbent MP wanted to bribe a top official of the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine with bitcoins (equivalent to $50,000).

MP wanted to give a bribe to the top official

On November 21, NABU [National Anticorruption Bureau of Ukraine — Ed.] and SACPO [Specail Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office — Ed.] detained an incumbent MP for intention to bribe the head of the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine.

NABU reported this on Facebook.

An important day for Ukraine. NABU and SACPO exposed a number of crimes related to the restoration of Ukraine.

MP was exposed for trying to bribe a top official with bitcoins.

The mass media have a version about a member of parliament from the "Servant of the People" faction, Andrii Odarchenko. He tried to bribe the head of the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, Mustafa Nayem.

The Ukrainian MP, a member of the committee on anti-corruption policy, offered the head of the State Agency for Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure an illegal benefit in Bitcoin cryptocurrency, equivalent to 50,000 US dollars.

In exchange for money, the MP asked for assistance in obtaining funds from the fund for liquidation of the consequences of armed aggression of the Russian Federation for the repair of an infrastructure object under his control (university).

After the allocation of funds from the fund to the crypto-wallet of the whistleblower-top official, the first tranche of illegal profits, equivalent to 10,000 US dollars, arrived.

This is the first in the history of anti-corruption authorities to document an illegal gain in cryptocurrency.

Investigations are ongoing.

Bribery to the commander of the "Odesa" OSUV: what is known

Law enforcement officers detained a businessman who wanted to bribe the commander of the operational-strategic troops’ group (OSTG) "Odesa". Eduard Moskalyov currently holds this position.

The entrepreneur offered a bribe of UAH 200,000 to the OSTG "Odesa" commander so that he would issue a particular order to obtain a permit to catch biological resources in the prohibited border zone.

However, Moskalyov turned to the law enforcement officers. A criminal case was initiated based on his statement. The commander, as they say in NABU and SACPO, contributed to the exposure of this crime.

The preliminary qualification of an entrepreneur's actions is Ch.5. Art. 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. It is “an offer, promise or giving of an illegal benefit to an official”. If the suspect is found guilty, he faces imprisonment for four to eight years with or without confiscation of property.

Primary investigative actions are currently ongoing.
