Dariusz Klimczak, the recently appointed Minister of Infrastructure of Poland, acknowledged the difficulties in unblocking the border crossings with Ukraine blocked by Polish truck drivers.

What difficulties are reported in Poland in connection with the unblocking of the border with Ukraine

In a comment to journalists of the PAP media outlet, Klimczak said that the current situation and large-scale blocking of checkpoints on the border with Ukraine by Polish drivers were caused by the inaction of representatives of the previous Polish government.

According to the Minister of Infrastructure of Poland, it will be quite difficult to resolve the situation with the unblocking of the border crossing points with Ukraine.

This is the first time we can even start discussing an agreement on transport liberalisation. We know that this agreement is a bone of contention, which is why drivers are protesting at the border, Klimczak said.

He also said that he planned to meet with his Ukrainian counterpart, Oleksandr Kubrakov, and stressed that he was involved in daily negotiations with Polish drivers blocking the border.

We are looking for a common denominator on the basis of which we can at least suspend the protest, — explained Klimczak.

What is known about the blockade of the Ukrainian border by Polish drivers

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported that on 18 December, Polish drivers blocked the movement of freight transport at the Dorohusk-Yahodyn checkpoint.

Today, after 15:00, Polish drivers began a protest action on the access roads to the Dorohusk-Yagodyn checkpoint. The information about its beginning came from the Border Guard Service of the Republic of Poland, the SBGS representatives said in a statement.

The department noted that Polish drivers promised to let one truck through per hour.

At the same time, they will miss humanitarian and military aid, as well as trucks with animals and perishable goods.

Border guards clarify that the protesters do not want to interfere with the movement of buses.
