The Czech Republic found a way to get more than three million shells of two calibers for Ukraine. But this requires additional funding from partner countries.

Pavel promises artillery shells for Ukraine

The President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, said that his country found an opportunity to provide Ukraine with the artillery shells it so desperately needs for the war with Russia.

Pavel announced this in Munich at the "Ukrainian lunch" organized by the Pinchuk Foundation.

Pavel spoke at a panel discussion with the participation of the leaders of 5 EU member states and commented on the problems with the supply of weapons and ammunition for the Armed Forces. He stated that Prague has found a way to organize such supplies.

We need to support Ukraine in supplying ammunition from all possible sources. We need to be as innovative and flexible as Ukrainian soldiers and look for military equipment everywhere.

Pavel stated that the Czech Republic "looks for military supplies around the world, and then works with our NATO partners," and singled out Denmark, the Netherlands, and Canada, which provided resources to supply military equipment to the Czech Republic.

And then we quickly transport it to Ukraine.

Pavel is sure that the Czech Republic has succeeded in the search.

So far, we have found half a million 155 mm shells, and 3 million 122 mm shells, which we can ship (to Ukraine) in a few weeks, if we can find the funding for it. We will turn to partners in the USA, Germany, Sweden, etc. for this help.

What is known about the Czech Republic's recommendation to accelerate the provision of one million rounds of ammunition to Ukraine

According to the journalists of the publication, citing diplomats close to the negotiations, the Czech authorities demand that the remaining 450,000 munitions, which the EU should provide to Ukraine, be purchased outside the Eurozone.

In particular, suppliers can be South Korea, Turkey, South Africa.

According to one of the diplomats, the figure of 450,000 was announced at an informal meeting of the heads of defense ministries of the EU countries in Brussels.

According to another, the offer to buy shells outside the EU was voiced by Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala at the summit of EU leaders

The chief diplomat of the European Union, Josep Borrell, especially noted Korea as a country that can be involved in the supply of additional shells.
