The prosecutor's office is investigating the execution of Ukrainian POWs
As reported in the press service, prosecutors have already started criminal proceedings on the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder (Chapter 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, in December 2023, during a combat clash with Ukrainian soldiers near the village of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region, Russian servicemen captured three Ukrainian defenders.
An hour later, in violation of Article 3 of the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the occupiers shot them, the OGP reported.
Currently, the pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the SSU Department in the Zaporizhzhia region.
What is known about the video of the execution on the network
The footage of the video shared on the network shows that the Ukrainian military had already been captured and did not resist. The mass media wrote that the Russian army executed captured Ukrainian fighters of the 117th Separate Mechanised Brigade.
The author of this video is a Ukrainian fighter of the 24th Separate Assault Battalion "Aidar" Stanislav Buniatov. There is currently no official confirmation that it is about the execution of soldiers of the 117th separate mechanized brigade.
This is another case of gross violation by the aggressor country of international humanitarian law regarding the treatment of prisoners of war.
