Russian occupants are constantly concentrating a significant amount of manpower in the Avdiivka sector. At the same time, the enemy does not stop its offensive operations and is slowly advancing. Oleksandr Kovalenko, a military and political observer at the Information Resistance group, explained what to expect next.

What is happening around Avdiivka

It is no secret that a new wave of attacks by Russian soldiers on the Ukrainian city may soon take place.

According to recent reports, the occupiers managed to make some progress in the area of Stepove and Pervomaiske.

According to Oleksandr Kovalenko, any advance of the Russian army on the battlefield, the capture of a particular settlement does not improve the situation at the front.

Especially considering the fact that we will have to vacate this territory anyway.

Nevertheless, the expert also draws attention to the fact that the enemy needs much more resources to surround Avdiivka at lightning speed.

To date, the Russian army does not actually have the appropriate forces and means to achieve this goal.

The situation is really tense. We are now witnessing the Russians preparing for the third wave of a powerful offensive. It could unfold around the 20th of December, i.e. before the New Year, predicts Oleksandr Kovalenko.

How can the situation around Avdiivka develop

According to the military observer, the consequences of the Russian army's offensive could be an advance in the northern and southern directions: in the area of Stepove, towards Berdychiv, as well as Pivnichne and Tonenke.

This is the worst-case scenario. If we look at the whole picture, as the Russians launched this offensive campaign on 10 October and have not yet achieved their combat objectives, I do not rule out that they will not be able to complete them in full by the New Year, the expert explains.

Oleksandr Kovalenko warns that the Russian occupiers' offensive on Avdiivka may be postponed until 2024.
