The criminal army of the Russian Federation involved almost half of the total number of its own artillery systems in the war against Ukraine, but was never able to gain an advantage over the Ukrainian artillerymen.

What is known about the superiority of the Armed Forces in artillery confrontation

Journalists of the publication, citing satellite images from Russian storage warehouses, note that the occupying Russian army is suffering considerable losses in military equipment.

The authors of the material emphasize that since the beginning of the criminal invasion of Ukraine, Russia has already attracted twice as many of its artillery systems as the total volume of all NATO member countries.

Analysts estimate that more than 7,500 artillery systems were removed from Russian storage warehouses.

However, the Russian invaders never achieved superiority in artillery over the Ukrainian military.

This situation arose due to the use of many old Soviet artillery systems by the occupying Russian army against a much smaller number of Western artillery systems in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which, nevertheless, turned out to be much more effective.

Almost 40 American HIMARS and M270 systems are currently on the battlefield. However, numerous videos prove that they are more effective than 1,000 Soviet MLRS such as “Uragan”, “Tornado” and “Grad”. Every day, the HIMARS systems destroy several dozen Russian artillery systems, the publication says.

The authors of the material also add that Soviet artillery systems have a less effective firing range with a maximum of 20-30 km, while Western artillery systems are capable of hitting targets at a distance of 30-40 km, and individual ammunition allows you to attack a target at a distance of up to 60 km.

HIMARS systems have an effective range of 85 km.

What is known about the problems of the Russian army with artillery

The primary means of counterbattery combat of the Russians remains the Lancet barrage munition, against which it is possible to build protection in the form of metal fences and which does not guarantee the destruction of the target.

Interceptor structures cannot stop a GMLRS projectile fired from a HIMARS system.

As long as Western weapons and ammunition for them are sufficient to counter the onslaught of massive Russian artillery, the Armed Forces will be able to restrain the enemy. Russia has already removed from storage about half of its stockpiles of Soviet artillery. Probably the best half. Therefore, in the battle of artillery, Ukraine can still win, says the material of the publication.
