The criminal army of the Russian Federation lost almost an entire tank division of 214 units of military equipment while trying to seize several kilometers of territory in the Avdiivka region of Donetsk region.

What is known about the insane losses of the Russian army in the Avdiyivka area

As the journalists of the publication note, the number of tanks lost by the Russian occupiers during the storming of Avdiyivka is a tenth of the total number of heavy armored vehicles sent to Ukraine.

The authors of the material, citing information from open sources, emphasize that on the eve of the collapse of the USSR, the 10,000-strong motorized rifle division had 220 tanks in service according to documents.

Since the offensive on Avdiivka in early October, the Russian 2nd and 41st combined armies have lost 214 tanks. Mostly T-72s and T-80s, but also a few high-end T-90s. Meanwhile, Ukrainian brigades in and around Avdiivka lost only 18 tanks, the publication says.

Losses of Russian tanks in the Avdiyivka area are potentially more than a tenth of all tanks that Russian forces have in Ukraine.

How can you explain the insane losses of tanks by the Russian army in the Avdiyivka area

It is noted that the ratio of tank losses in the Avdiivka area is 12 to 1.

Journalists note that such losses cannot be justified by the fact that the Ukrainian military did not deploy enough tanks in the Avdiivka area.

In fact, Ukrainian forces have deployed tanks, including some of the best German Leopard 2A6s.

The traditional advantage of the defender, who has a fortified position, over the open attacker also cannot explain such high losses of Russia.

The Ukrainians simply outplayed the Russians with mines, artillery, drones, missiles and old-fashioned rifle fire from fortified positions. And they did it, despite the fact that ammunition was gradually running out after the Republicans began to block US aid to Ukraine, - the article emphasizes.
