Nepal is demanding the Kremlin not to recruit its citizens into the Russian army and immediately return all Nepali citizens after it emerged that six soldiers serving in the Russian army were killed.

The Kremlin is recruiting Nepali citizens for the war

Nepal's government said in a statement that six of its citizens, who were serving in the Russian army, had been killed without giving any details.

The government of Nepal has appealed to the Russian government to immediately return their bodies and pay compensation to their families, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

The statement also says that diplomatic efforts are being made to release one Nepali citizen who served in the Russian army and was captured in Ukraine. Nepal also urged its citizens not to join the army of any warring country.

The Kathmandu Post's English-language newspaper quoted Milan Raj Tuladhar, Nepal's ambassador to Moscow, saying that 150-200 Nepalis were mercenaries in the Russian army.

Millions of Nepali citizens are employed in civilian jobs, primarily as labourers at industrial plants and construction sites in South Korea, Malaysia and the Middle East.

Mercenaries in the Russian army

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree last year that allows foreigners who have signed up to serve in the Russian army to receive citizenship on an accelerated basis.

In September, Cuba announced that authorities were working to neutralize the network, which operated both on Cuban soil and in Russia.

Cuban authorities have arrested 17 people who lured young Cuban men to serve in the Russian army during the war with Ukraine. They may face execution.

We will remind, as analysts have reported, that the Russian military continues to recruit Cuban citizens for the war in Ukraine, possibly as part of relatively elite airborne formations.

Thus, on September 29, the Russian opposition publication Mobilization News stated that Vladimir Shkunov, a researcher at the Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences and a member of the Expert Council under the Government of the Russian Federation, recruited eight Cuban citizens to participate in the war in Ukraine.

Also, on September 30, Reuters reported that 119 Cubans are studying at a Russian military base outside the city of Tula and that some Cuban recruits are already in Ukraine.
