The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has put Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church, Kirill (Vladimir Gundyaev), on the wanted list.

Patriarch Kirill was declared wanted

The wanted notice appeared in the search database of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

He is charged under Part 3 of Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine) and Part 2 of Article 437 of the Criminal Code (waging aggressive war or aggressive military operations).

It is noted that the measure of restraint for the Patriarch is detention.

Patriarch Kirill received suspicion from the SSU

In November, the SSU served a notice of suspicion to Patriarch Kirill of the Russian Orthodox Church, "who blessed the Russians to kill Ukrainians".

The Security Service of Ukraine and the Prosecutor General's Office gathered evidence against the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, who is a member of the inner circle of Russia's top military and political leadership and was one of the first to publicly support the full-scale war against Ukraine.

The SSU stated that Gundyaev uses the religious communities of the Russian Orthodox Church in Russia under his control, as well as representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (MP) in Ukraine.

He also regularly disseminates "Kremlin narratives" in the form of online sermons or his own video commentaries.

Gundyaev is suspected of the following illegal actions:

  • encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine;

  • justification, recognition as legitimate, denial of the armed aggression of Russia against Ukraine, and glorification of its participants;

  • planning, preparation, initiation and conduct of an aggressive war.
