In today's hectic pace of life, it is almost impossible to do without an alarm clock. However, it can cause many health problems.

Why the alarm clock is dangerous for health

According to researchers from the University of Virginia, about 80% of adults regularly use an alarm clock without even realizing its source of harm.

As the study's author, Yeonsu Kim, notes, the sound of the alarm clock in the morning can spoil the mood and increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

The scientist says that the participants in her experiment were 32 people who wore smart watches and cuffs for measuring blood pressure while sleeping.

After the first night, they woke up naturally, without an alarm clock, and the next day the sound of the alarm clock woke them up after five hours of sleep.

Waking up with an alarm clock. What was found out as a result of the new research

According to the scientists who experimented, those who woke up by an alarm clock had 74% higher blood pressure than those who woke up naturally.

Yeonsu Kim points out that such a sharp increase in blood pressure levels can harm people with cardiovascular diseases.

It is essential to understand that it creates an additional load on the heart and can provoke fatigue, shortness of breath, anxiety, and muscle tension in the neck area. In the worst cases, even nosebleeds may begin.

Moreover, it was found that the study participants who slept less than seven hours were more likely to experience a sharp morning spike in blood pressure.

This can increase the risk of stroke or heart attack due to increased sympathetic nervous system activity.
