A four-day truce began between Israel and Hamas

The report notes that a few hours before the temporary ceasefire, sirens sounded in Israeli cities bordering Gaza.

In addition, intensive shelling of the Gaza Strip was reported. The Israeli army tried to continue its mission against Hamas as much as possible in the last hours before the pause.

According to Qatari mediators, 13 hostages held in Gaza will be released at 16:00, followed by an unspecified number of Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prisons.

At least 50 women and children are expected to be released over the next four days, while 190 people remain in the hands of Palestinian militants.

Agreement on the release of hostages

Israel has developed a five-phase deal to release the hostages.

The day before, the Cabinet of Israel approved an agreement on the release of about 50 hostages. Hamas fighters, according to the plan, will release 30 kidnapped children, eight mothers and 12 more women during the five-day ceasefire.

At the same time, Israeli President Isaac Herzog said that Jerusalem is experiencing a "critical hour" before the planned release of the hostages.
