A few days ago, the Major General of the Russian Army, Vladimir Popov, said that the Russian Federation released a new version of the Shahed kamikaze drones, equipped with a jet engine, thanks to which the drones can develop three times the speed up to 450-600 km/h. However, the Air Force called this statement a fake.

Does Russia have Shahed jet drones

This information appeared in an interview on Rushen-propaganda channels, where some granpa-general read news from the Iranian defense industry that they invented the Shahed, which has a jet engine and reaches a speed of 600-800 km. And the "grandpa" has already decided that such an unmanned aerial vehicle is at the disposal of Russia and that they are using them against us, - Ignat said during the telethon, hinting that the infospace "catched" by the Popov's general uniform, in which he came to the studio.

The Air Force spokesman emphasizes that until now, the Ukrainian side has not recorded cases of the use of Shahed rockets against our country. Moreover, there is currently no information on whether Iran will supply Russia with UAVs of this modification or whether it produces them at all. According to Ignat, everyone can discuss only the exhibition specimen in this story.

He also explained that if a jet engine is installed on a drone, it turns into a cruise missile. In this case, the cost of UAVs will increase tenfold, and their production will take much longer.

How Russia is improving the Iranian "Shaheds"

According to the agency, the Russian Federation could supplement Iranian drones with weapons manufactured at its factories.

Intelligence cites data from the end of November that a Ukrainian SIM card and a 4G modem were found in one downed Shaheds.

As noted in the department, in this way, the Russian Federation is trying to improve guidance in real time using cell towers to reduce dependence on satellite navigation.

In addition, British analysts suggest, this may be an attempt to weaken Ukrainian means of electronic warfare.
