The USA predicted the prospects of aid to Ukraine in the coming weeks

Ukrainian leaders were here in town yesterday for the Pentagon's defense industry conference to make sure we have a mechanism in place for them to have a healthy defense industrial base and long-term security support, Kirby said.

According to Kirby, the White House is deeply concerned that the United States still has several weeks to provide security assistance to Ukraine.

We know that there (in Congress — ed.) is strong bipartisan support. There's just a small number of Republicans who want to hold everyone hostage to a pretty extreme border policy that the president has said we're willing to negotiate in good faith, he believes immigration policy needs to be changed, and resource changes, and he's willing to negotiate that conversation, Kirby added.

To clarify the guarantees for the continuation of military supplies to Ukraine, he answered that the White House cannot make promises, as it is all decided in Congress.

What preceded it

It will be recalled that on October 1, the US Congress adopted a bill on the temporary budget. It did not include new funding for aid to Ukraine, as they decided to consider such an initiative separately. After that, US President Joe Biden proposed to Congress that 106 billion dollars be allocated. They want to send most of these funds ($60 billion) to help Ukraine. The package also included aid to Israel.

After lengthy disputes, the US approved a new interim budget for the government without aid to Ukraine and Israel. Biden signed the law that helped avoid the "shutdown".

It is also known that there are disputes in the US Congress about strengthening the border with Mexico. Republicans made the demand, threatening to withhold funding for Ukraine if immigration legislation is not passed.

US President Joe Biden called the possibility of ending military aid to Ukraine "madness".
