The spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service, Andriy Demchenko, said during the telethon that as of the morning of 23 December, four checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Polish border such as Rava-Ruska, Krakovets, Yagodyn and Shehyni were blocked.

According to Polish border guards, as of this morning, more than 4,000 cars, trucks and vehicles are queuing up at the border with Ukraine, waiting to cross the border into Ukraine.

The spokesman stressed that the movement of cars and buses was not blocked. Polish carriers blocked traffic only for freight transport.

Currently, about 120-150 trucks cross the border in both directions per day.

Blockade of truck traffic on the border with Ukraine

On 6 November, Polish truck drivers blocked truck traffic at three checkpoints Korczowa-Krakowiec, Hrebenne-Rava-Ruska, and Dorohusk-Yagodyn on the border with Ukraine.

They demand that the permits for Ukrainian drivers, which were cancelled by the agreement with the European Union, be restored by 30 June 2024.

The local authorities banned strikes at the Yahodyn-Dorohusk checkpoint, but a court later overturned this decision, and the strike resumed on 18 December.

On 22 December, Ukraine and Poland agreed on an action plan to unblock the border by Christmas. The Ministry of Reconstruction of Ukraine reports that it has reached an understanding on compromise solutions with the new leadership of the Polish Ministry of Infrastructure.

The next step will be negotiations between the Polish Ministry of Infrastructure and the protesters.
