Advisors to former US President Donald Trump are already discussing a plan to bring Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to the peaceful talks.
Trump wants "peaceful talks" between Zelenskyy and Trump
The Bloomberg news agency spoke with its insiders from the Republican's entourage.
According to one of Donald Trump's advisers, a promise to end US military aid could help Ukraine sit down at the negotiating table, while the threat of increasing US aid could encourage Russia to do so.
Moreover, it is reported that the assistants of the ex-president of the USA, in particular Larry Kudlow and Robert O'Brien, are demanding immediate strengthening of sanctions against the Central Bank of Russia, because they believe that this will help to stop the head of the Kremlin.
Currently, no one is negotiating with Russian or Ukrainian mediators, in part because doing so would likely run afoul of the Logan Act, a US law that prohibits private individuals from negotiating on behalf of the government, the reporters explained.
The US rejected Putin's "cease fire" proposal
On February 14, the Reuters agency reported that representatives of the American authorities rejected dictator Vladimir Putin's proposal to "freeze" the war in Ukraine.
As the journalists managed to find out, mediators of the USA and the Russian Federation held a meeting in Turkey at the end of 2023.
It is worth noting that this was an initiative of the Kremlin, but it did not have any success.
Putin's signal was relayed to Washington, where senior US officials met, including White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, Director of the Central Intelligence Agency Bill Burns and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
