Tunnels between Pochayna and Tarasa Shevchenko undeground stations to be repaired due to subsidence.

The condition of the tunnels between the Pochayna and Tarasa Shevchenko stations

Mykola Povoroznyk, the deputy head of the Kyiv City Military Administration (CMA), told the Ekonomichna Pravda news source that the tunnels will undergo scheduled repairs.

It is a matter of timely inspection, timely repair and maintenance. There are no serious problems, assured Povoroznyk.

According to the Kyiv underground management, train traffic will not stop completely. The section is likely to have alternating shuttle traffic through one tunnel.

We will stop traffic in one tunnel, not two at the same time. This is a matter of organising work in the field of passenger traffic. There will be temporary passages and a different traffic management scheme. Trains will not turn around anywhere, they will pass this section one by one through one tunnel, Povoroznyk said.

This traffic pattern will provide a longer interval for train arrivals. At the same time, Kyivpastrans, a municipal company that operates public transport in Kyiv, is organising additional ground transport routes.

Work is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2024.

Shutting down of underground stations in Kyiv

On 8 December, the CSA announced the suspension of train traffic on the section between the Lybidska and Demiivska underground stations of the Obolonsko-Teremkivska underground line.

The reason was the depressurisation of the tunnel and the appearance of cracks in its walls, which led to the flooding of the tunnel.

The repair of the stations will last six months. For now, trains on the Blue Line will only run between Heroiv Dnipra and Lybidska stations.

On 13 December, police searched the buildings of the Kyivskyi Metropoliten, a city-owned company that operates the Kyiv Metro [Kyiv Underground] transit system.

Metrobud, a construction company obtaining a leading position in the Ukrainian underground construction market, was subjected to a police raid and structural units of the city-state administration.

The searches were carried out within the framework of criminal proceedings under the qualification of "official negligence" (Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation plans to check for miscalculations in the underground section's design, construction and operation.

"Impressive arsenal." Putin found Trump's weak spot

Putin has learned to manipulate Trump
Source:  online.ua

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has realized that flattery is a weak point of American leader Donald Trump and is actively using it to manipulate the US president. This was warned by former Swedish Prime Minister and current co-chair of the European Council on Foreign Relations Carl Bildt.

Points of attention

  • Despite Putin's controversial actions and the war against Ukraine, a Trump spokesperson surprisingly defends Putin, calling the situation 'complicated.'
  • The dynamics between Putin and Trump shed light on the power of flattery in international relations and highlight the importance of understanding vulnerabilities in diplomatic interactions.

Putin has learned to manipulate Trump

Carl Bildt decided to comment on a new interview with Tucker Carlson, the US President's special envoy, Steve Witkoff.

"Vladimir Putin knows that flattery works, especially on someone like Donald Trump. And he uses an impressive arsenal," the former Swedish prime minister emphasized.

In addition, the co-chair of the European Council attached a fragment of an interview to the post, in which Witkoff says that Putin ordered a portrait of Trump from a leading Russian artist and asked him to give it to the US president.

Moreover, Trump's representative unexpectedly stated that he does not consider Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, whose orders have killed and injured millions of people, to be a bad person.

"I don't think Putin is a bad person. It's a complicated situation, this war and all the components that led to it," Steve Witkoff cynically stated.
