The Russians shelled Kherson again
According to Oleksandr Prokudin, the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration (RMA) at around 12:00, the Russian military shelled the city of Kherson with artillery.
A woman was killed on the street and a driver who was in his car at the moment of Russian shelling, the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office reported.
A Russian shell hit the car and caused it to catch fire. Rescuers extinguished the fire.
Under the procedural supervision of the Kherson District Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation was launched in criminal proceedings over the violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Russia’s shelling in Kherson
Russian troops continue to shell Kherson and the right-bank of the Kherson region even after the Ukrainian defence forces regained control of these settlements in autumn 2022 following Russia's complete seizure of the region in February 2022.
On the night of 5 January, the Russian army fired three Grad rockets at the village of Vysoke Tyahynske. A modular town came under fire, and 7 people were injured. In the afternoon of 5 January, Russian troops shelled the Dniprovsky district of Kherson. As a result of the shelling, a warehouse with humanitarian aid caught fire, and four people were injured.
On 26 December, the occupiers shelled the railway station in Kherson. A 29-year-old police officer from Kirovohrad region was killed. Also, two policemen from Kherson region and two civilians were injured.
