UK Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs David Cameron announced a new winter humanitarian aid package for Ukraine for £29 million (€43 million). Also, Britain is introducing sanctions against suppliers that help the Russian Federation.
Humanitarian aid for Ukraine
The UK Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs announced a new winter humanitarian aid package of £29 million and the allocation of another £7.75 million for humanitarian activities.
It will focus on the needs of the most vulnerable sections of the population of Ukraine, such as women, girls, older people and people with disabilities.
The government's website says the funding is part of the UK's overall humanitarian aid to Ukraine and the region in 2023-2024 of £127 million, as announced at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in June.
The aid allocation occurred before David Cameron's first visit to Washington as Foreign Secretary. He will confirm Ukraine's support in the fight against Russian aggression there.
Sanctions against Russia
Also, since December 6, Britain has introduced sanctions against foreign individuals and legal entities that supply the Russian Federation with equipment and components that can be used for military purposes.
