On the morning of February 17, Ukrainian forces in the Eastern direction destroyed two Russian Su-34 fighter-bombers and one Su-35 fighter.

Three Russian planes were destroyed in the east

The commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleschuk, reported that on the morning of February 17, units of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed three enemy aircraft at once:

  • two Su-34 fighter-bombers,

  • one Su-35 fighter.

As of the morning of February 17, the General Staff of the Armed Forces reported that as of February 24, 2022, the Russian Federation had lost 332 aircraft and 325 helicopters.

Su-35 and Su-34: what is known

The Su-35 is a fourth-generation Soviet/Russian multirole fighter. Designed for interception and destruction of air targets, as well as for damage to ground and surface military facilities, ground infrastructure, etc.

The cost of one Russian Su-34 fighter-bomber is at least $50 million.
