Financial assistance to Japan in January consists of the grant part of funds of 89.8 million dollars. USA within the project's framework on providing inclusive support for restoring agriculture in Ukraine (ARISE).

Another part of the loan amounting to USD 300 million was allocated within the project "Investments in Social Protection to Increase Coverage, Sustainability and Efficiency" (INSPIRE).

The INSPIRE project aims to ensure social protection of vulnerable sections of the population during and after the war and strengthen the adaptability of the social support system.

The ARISE project aims to support agricultural producers' access to financing through preferential lending and grants.

"The raised funds will be used to reimburse the expenses of Ukraine's state budget for priority needs, particularly in the reconstruction and social assistance field. Receiving such funding significantly contributes to providing our citizens with the necessary services, which are critically important in war conditions," said Minister of Finance Serhii Marchenko.

What is known about 50 billion euros for Ukraine from the EU

In June 2023, the European Commission proposed creating a unique mechanism for Ukraine, under which grants and loans of up to 50 billion euros will be provided until 2027. It replaces the current support to Ukraine through the Macroeconomic Financial Assistance Program, which expires at the end of 2023.

At the summit of EU leaders, Hungary blocked the decision to allocate 50 billion euros to Ukraine for 2024-2027.

Against this background, the European Parliament initiated the collection of signatures under a petition to deprive Budapest of the right to vote in the Council of the EU, and the required number of signatures has already been collected. According to Bloomberg, meanwhile, the bloc's government is ready to take radical action if the Hungarian prime minister continues to block Ukraine's aid package.
