Ukraine returned two more children from the occupied Luhansk region

It was possible to evacuate two native sisters from the temporarily occupied territory of Luhansk region. Due to the full-scale war, the girls did not see their mother for two years.

Ukraine returned home two sisters

As noted, at the time of the full-scale Russian invasion, the girls lived with their grandparents in a small village in Luhansk region, while their mother worked in the city. The Russians quickly occupied the village, so it was not possible to immediately take the children away.

In 2022, children were forced to study according to the Russian school curriculum, and then the occupation authorities began to pressure the grandparents to take care of their granddaughters according to the Russian model.

However, the Ministry of Reintegration, the Public Union "Ukrainian Network for Children's Rights" and the project of finding and returning children "The Way Home" were able to return the children to their mothers.

The founder of Save Ukraine talked about the work of the fund

In an interview with Online.UA, the founder of Save Ukraine, Mykola Kuleba, said that Save Ukraine is not the only fund working on the return of children, but they probably returned the most children.

Our foundation has already returned almost 230 children who were deported, kidnapped, forcibly relocated from the occupied territories, from the territory of Russia. By the way, 64 children out of these almost 230 are orphans who were either abducted or forcibly relocated, or were in family forms of education or foster families, or under guardianship, Kuleba noted.
