On November 23, Ukraine announced an official note to the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in connection with the death of the second Ukrainian driver at the border due to the blocking of traffic by Polish truckers.
The Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland sent a note to the Polish Foreign Ministry
The Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland, Vasyl Zvarych, said that the Embassy urgently addressed another official note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland, demanding that the movement of cargo vehicles be unblockaded.
The reason was the second death of a Ukrainian truck driver who was in a queue caused by a strike of Polish carriers in front of the Korchova checkpoint.
He added that the restriction of cargo traffic by Polish protesters poses a threat to people's lives and health and causes a significant threat to safety and traffic order on public roads.
The provisions of the Polish Law "On Assemblies" provide direct grounds for the dissolution of the strike by the representative of the local self-government body that issued the permit for its holding.
Zvarych added that everyone has the right to protest, but the chosen form, time and duration of the meeting in difficult weather conditions creates a real threat to life, health, and people's safety.
Polish trucker’s strike on the border with Ukraine
Since November 6, Polish carriers have blocked the movement of trucks at the checkpoints "Krakivets-Korchova", "Yagodyn-Dorogusk", and "Rava-Ruska-Grebenne".
They demanded the return of permits for commercial transportation for Ukraine, which the European Union cancelled.
Following the results of a visit to checkpoints on November 19, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Serhiy Derkach reported that strikers are blocking the passage of trucks with fuel and humanitarian aid despite promises not to do so.
On November 23, the Poles began to block the fourth checkpoint — "Medyk is adjacent to the Ukrainian checkpoint "Sheghyni".
