Ukraine shot down 114 out of 158 enemy cruise missiles and Shaheds

Ukraine's air defence forces destroyed 114 Russian targets, missiles and drones out of 158 during Russia's massive air strike on Ukraine on 29 December, Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Valeriy Zaluzhnyi said.

According to preliminary data, last night Russian troops used 158 air attack weapons against Ukraine: missiles of various types and anti-aircraft missile systems.

In total, the Air Force, in cooperation with units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, destroyed:

  • 27 attack drones "Shahed-136/131"

  • 87 Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 cruise missiles.

Russia’s missiles fired at Ukraine

General Valerii Zaluzhnyi said that at first the occupiers attacked with Shaheds from the north and south-east, with further advancement in the western direction.

A total of 36 Shahed-136/131 strike UAVs were spotted over Ukraine.

At around 3:00 am, the Russian occupiers used strategic aviation, sending 18 Tu-95MS bombers towards Ukraine.

They arrived at the launch line around 6 a.m., and launched at least 90 Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 air-launched cruise missiles.

Gen Zaluzhnyi also said that at around 05:00 a.m., the Russians used Tu-22M3 long-range bombers from the Kursk region of Russia, which fired eight Kh-22/Kh-32 cruise missiles in the direction of the northern and central regions of Ukraine.

At the same time, Russian troops attacked Kharkiv with S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles.

In total, the enemy launched at least 14 S-300/S-400/Iskander-M ballistic missiles from the occupied Crimea, Kursk and Belgorod regions of Russia.

At 6:30 a.m., five MiG-31K fighter jets took to the air and launched five Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles from the Astrakhan region.

Four Kh-31P anti-radar missiles and one Kh-59 were used from Su-35 tactical aircraft.
