Ukraine officially begins negotiations with the regulators of the USA and the European Union regarding the resumption of passenger air transportation in our country. Consultations are also taking place with the Civil Aviation Administration of Israel.

What is known about the talks on the resumption of air transport

The Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction, the Minister for Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure, Oleksandr Kubrakov, reported on Mar.11.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised that it is too early to discuss any deadlines. But the Ukrainian side is already conveying to the regulators its vision of how the market will work under martial law conditions, as well as its risk assessment, approaches, and algorithms.

There are not many examples of airports in the world where drones or missiles can arrive at any time. Israel is the most successful example. We spent a lot of time and are spending a lot of time in consultations with the Civil Aviation Administration of Israel, — noted Kubrakov.

According to him, at the level of plans, there are different scenarios regarding the number of airports that can be opened in Ukraine.

We need to hear the first official feedback from the regulators.

EU companies are interested in air transportation in Ukraine

Kubrakov assured that European airlines were interested and wanted to be the first in the resumption of the Ukrainian air market, but he refused to name them. According to him, negotiations are also underway with three Ukrainian companies.

They also confirm, of course, that they want to fly here, these are their base airports, their base country, the minister noted.

As Kubrakov explained, creating one's own national aviation operator was definitely not the main priority during the war, but later, this issue will have to be returned.
