Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, who does not hide his pro-Russian position, suddenly announced that his country will not block a "political decision" regarding the start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU.

Slovakia will not hinder Ukraine on its way to the EU

According to Robert Fitso, he allegedly considers Ukraine "absolutely unready" for the start of negotiations. However, despite this, official Bratislava will not block such a decision during the summit on December 14-15.

We will not obstruct the decision of the European Council to start negotiations with Ukraine on joining the EU. This is a political decision, it has nothing to do with reality. Ukraine is absolutely not ready for the start of negotiations, the prime minister of Slovakia said.

It is worth noting that the head of Slovak diplomacy, Juraj Blanar, also officially confirmed that his country is ready to support the decision to open negotiations.

Having assessed the reform efforts in Kyiv, we are ready to support the opening of accession negotiations, which will be discussed at the upcoming meeting of the European Council. However, our eastern neighbor still has a long and thorny road ahead, all the necessary measures must not only be approved, but also put into practice and monitored, the head of the Foreign Ministry of Slovakia emphasized.

Who can prevent the start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU

Hungarian leader Viktor Orban, a henchman of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, does not hide that he will block critical decisions regarding Ukraine.

Even though the head of state, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, recently talked to him about it, the position of the pro-Russian politician has not yet been changed.

It is essential to understand that Austria can also vote against the opening of negotiations.

There should be no preferences for Ukraine, especially in comparison with Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Austrian Chancellor Karl Neghammer said.
