In the morning, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was able to "land" two Russian planes that were striking Ukrainian military positions with guided air bombs.

It is worth paying attention that one is a Su-34 fighter-bomber, and the other is a Su-35S fighter.

The Air Force destroyed four Russian aircraft in one day

On Feb 17, the Air Force commander, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleschuk, officially confirmed that AFU and Air Force units managed to down three enemy planes at once:

  • two Su-34 fighter-bombers,

  • one Su-35 fighter.

It is worth paying attention that the cost of one Su-35 fighter varies from $98 million to $104 million.

The Su-35 is a fourth-generation Soviet/Russian multirole fighter. Designed for interception and destruction of air targets and for damage to ground and surface military facilities, ground infrastructure, etc.

It is also known from open sources that the cost of one Russian fighter-bomber Su-34 reaches at least $50 million.

The Su-34 is a Soviet/Russian all-weather, two-seat fighter-bomber. It is intended for carrying out precise missile and bomb strikes against enemy ground targets in operational and tactical depth, as well as for defeating enemy air targets.

Later it became known that on the morning of Feb 18, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was able to successfully "land" another Russian Su-34.

Fighters of the air command "East" managed to do this around 06:00.
