Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers withdraws the mobilisation bill from Rada

Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine
Government

On January 11, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine officially withdraws its mobilisation bill from the Verkhovna Rada.

The mobilisation bill was withdrawn from the Rada

In the card of the draft law on mobilisation, the status changed to "Draft withdrawn".

Earlier, several MPs reported that following the results of a meeting of the Conciliation Board in closed session, it was decided to return the draft law to the initiator, i.e. the Cabinet of Ministers.

The leader of the "Servant of the People" faction, David Arakhamiia, said that the military command was present at the closed meeting: AFU Commander-in-Chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi, AFU General Staff Chief Serhii Shaptala, and MOD chief Rustem Umierov.

There were many discussions. We understand the request of the military command and are ready to meet it. But not all norms can be supported. Some provisions directly violate human rights, some are not optimally formulated. This was openly told to the military command. But all political forces understood and support the need for mobilization, Arakhamiia wrote.

Defense Minister of Ukraine Rustem Umierov said that his team has already prepared a new version of the draft law. The latest version has considered all the proposals and is ready to be submitted to the Government for approval soon.

The mobilisation bill: what is known

The Government has developed a draft law, "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine on Improving Certain Issues of Mobilisation, Military Registration and Military Service."

It has many new proposals for rotations, service of summonses, changing the conscription age from 27 to 25, vacation and military service in general.

Online.ua reviewed the upcoming changes in mobilisation in Ukraine for 2024, which are foreseen by draft law No. 10378.
