According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine and Europe can help to create the "artillery balance" with Russia through joint efforts.

The EU will help Ukraine overcome the artillery hell hunger

Kuleba made a statement during a joint briefing with the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, in Kyiv.

According to him, the scale of the Russo-Ukrainian war had reached the level for which ammunition depots were not ready.

We must all rise to the challenge. For this purpose, Ukraine is increasing the production of projectiles, which is unprecedented for itself; for this purpose, the EU is taking unprecedented measures to produce projectiles for procurement in third countries.

According to the Ukrainian diplomat, one specific solution cannot change the situation.

That is why Dmytro Kuleba calls on partners to work comprehensively on the problem of the lack of shells.

According to the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, governments need to sign longer-term contracts with manufacturers of shells in Europe.

It is necessary that Ukrainian and European manufacturers work together more and increase production. Let's remove all administrative obstacles. Basically, we need to create something like a common market for defense industries. This is the mission of the EU as an institution — to remove obstacles to the movement of capital, people and goods. And this should be done for the defense industries," Kuleba noted.

Ukraine plans to expand the search area

The Ukrainian diplomat also confirmed that official Kyiv intends to start negotiations with European countries that have contracted artillery rouns for themselves.

They may agree to cede the rounds to Ukraine.

In addition, Kuleba added that it will be necessary to look for and buy shells from warehouses in third countries.

Can we equalise the artillery balance with Russia? We definitely can, if we make these comprehensive efforts... Thanks to the heroism and creativity of Ukrainian soldiers, we manage to contain Russia despite the fact that we really suffer from a shortage of ammunition. But it is important that the ammunition deficit never turns into ammunition starvation, Kuleba concluded.
