The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, said the application will be considered at the next plenary session.
What is known about Yulia Laputina
Yulia Laputina held the position of deputy head of the Department of Counterintelligence Protection of the State's Interests in the Field of Information Security at the SSU. She defended her PhD thesis in psychology. She worked in counterintelligence for a long time.
In the early 1990s, when the anti-terrorist centre of the SBU "Alpha" was created, Laputina worked as a senior officer of the special unit. Took part in the neutralisation of the separatist putsch in Crimea in 1994.
During 2010-2012, she was the deputy head of the Special Operations Center "A" of the Security Service.
In 2014, as part of the first joint SSU group, she worked in occupied Kramatorsk, engaged in intelligence, collection and transmission of information. After the liberation of Kramatorsk from pro-Russian formations, she initiated the campaign "Kramatorsk is Ukraine", which was picked up in other cities.
The same year, Laputina was appointed Deputy Head of the Department of Counterintelligence Protection of the State's Interests in Information Security.
In March 2020, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy conferred the military rank of major general on Yulia Laputina, colonel of the Security Service of Ukraine.
On December 18, 2020, she was appointed Minister of Veterans Affairs after the 65-year-old Minister for Veterans Affairs, Serhiy Bessarab, resigned on December 15 due to health issues.
