Sweden and Great Britain have announced that they are joining a newly formed drone coalition. It was previously created by Ukraine and Latvia.

There are already four countries in the Drones Coalition for Ukraine

In particular, Swedish Defense Minister Paul Johnson announced this decision during the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine meeting on January 23.

Great Britain also announced its intention to join the coalition and become its co-leader with Latvia.

Ukraine and Latvia created a coalition of drones and EW. The decision was made during the visit of Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds to Kyiv. Now, it has four participating countries.

Technologies, not people, have to fight. The drone coalition will be another step towards realizing this idea. It will save many lives. Strengthening and developing the production of unmanned systems will allow us to transform the army and make the latest technologies a reality today, — emphasised Kateryna Chernogorenko, Deputy Minister of Defense for Digital Development, Digital Transformations and Digitalisation.

Earlier, Chernogorenko presented Ukraine's need for UAV systems, radio-electronic warfare, and technologies to protect critical infrastructure to partners.

What is known about the drone coalition

In early December, Defense Minister of Ukraine Rustem Umierov and his colleague from Latvia, Andris Spruds, discussed the creation of a drone coalition.

Within a month, Spruds reported that about twenty countries had already joined the coalition of drones initiated by Latvia, which would be transferred to Ukraine as part of defence assistance.
