Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal started a meeting with Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico in Uzhhorod.

What is known about Shmyhal's meeting with Fico

The Ukrainian Prime Minister announced this in a telegram.

Today in Uzhgorod we are holding a meeting with the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, Shmyhal wrote.

It is noted that on the prime minister's agenda is the discussion of bilateral relations between Ukraine and Slovakia and the support of European initiatives.

We count on a constructive and practical dialogue, — emphasised the head of Ukraine's government.

What preceded it

On January 18, Denys Shmyhal said that Ukraine would meet with Slovakia's Prime Minister Fico to persuade him to unblock EU funds for the Ukraine Facility project.

Earlier, the European Commission proposed to allocate 50 billion euros to Ukraine for 2024-2027. The leaders of the EU countries considered this initiative at the summit on December 14-15. But Hungary promised a solution.

The issue of aid to Ukraine will be discussed at the EU summit on February 1. However, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban says he will block the problem.

Later, it was reported that Fico would meet in Uzhhorod with the Ukrainian prime minister to declare he was against Ukraine's membership in NATO.

On January 23, after another missile attack on Kyiv, Robert Fico declared that "there is no war" in the capital of Ukraine, and life is "absolutely normal".
