The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, while in Donbas, named the main tasks currently facing the defence forces of Ukraine. In particular, he emphasised maintaining the position and restoring the lost position.

What are the tasks facing the Ukrainian military in Donbas

My main task is to effectively use the combat capabilities of our units' weapons and military equipment to inflict maximum losses on the enemy and destroy a significant part of his artillery and armoured vehicles; to maintain the occupied positions and restore the position where we withdrew.

Of course, as the general noted, it is necessary to distribute the reserves correctly to strengthen the defence in the principal directions.

While working with the brigade commanders, I pay the main attention to how the work at the control points regarding enemy fire damage is organized, to the timeliness and adequacy of the decisions made in accordance with the situation, and to the maintenance of constant interaction between units and units, — added Syrskyi.

Syrskyi visited the front line

On Feb. 29, the AFU Commander-in-Chief, Oleksandr Syrskyi, went to Donbas, particularly the Avdiivka direction, and visited the military units defending the Avdiivka and Kurakhove directions.

During the monitoring of the situation, Syrskyi discovered miscalculations of the commanders on the ground, which in a certain way affected the defence. At the same time, in order to correct the situation, he has already ordered to allocate an additional resource of ammunition and material resources, as well as the necessary reserves.

Syrskyi also spoke about the situation at the front — the Ukrainian Armed Forces defeated the occupiers from the outskirts of the village of Orlivka in the Pokrovsk district of the Donetsk region.
